2024 Legislative Recap
In the days and weeks following the end of the 2024 legislative session, the Maryland Chamber of Commerce government affairs team will review and provide a comprehensive analysis of the legislation relevant to the business community.
We supported 18 pieces of legislation during this year's session, including the Governor's Critical Infrastructure Streamlining Act, the Transparent Government Act, the Keep Our Heroes Home Act, the Economic Competitiveness Act and the Clean Slate Act. Simultaneously, we fought against proposals that would push Maryland further down the ladder of economic competitiveness, successfully opposing 42 bills, with only a few receiving final passage. During this webinar, participants heard from Maryland Chamber of Commerce representatives:
Mary D. Kane is the president & CEO of the Maryland Chamber of Commerce. She has a rich professional history, most recently at the U.S. State Department as Director of the National Museum of American Diplomacy. An attorney, she also served as Secretary of State in Maryland from 2003-2007 and as Executive Director at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce from 2008-2011.
Andrew Griffin is the senior vice president of government affairs at the Maryland Chamber. He leads advocacy efforts on behalf of a coalition of 6,800+ businesses before the Maryland General Assembly and on the federal level as well. He develops and executes the legislative strategy of our organization and maintains the Chamber’s positive working relationships with key elected officials and members of the administration.
Hannah Allen serves as the Maryland Chamber of Commerce's director of government affairs. She is responsible for helping drive strategies and foster important member relationships to assist in determining and crafting our position on legislation and policies.
